Otherwise known as ‘Social Bookmarking’ is the act of posting, saving or categorizing under certain keywords or search terms on a tagging network.

A recommendation that you make within the network is used by a friend or associate and so on until that tag has been recommended by lots of people. The viral marketers dream.

The tagging network is another form of a search engine & the tags are another form of listing your websites.

The act of social bookmarking is still considered rather controversial at this time as it is a relatively new way to get publicity, there is always some trepidation when something different comes around. It is not illegal in any way.

So to sum up you the user choose what you want to see in the tagging network, other like minded people will use the recommendation and save the tag. The tag is then passed on to a friend or associates of theirs & so on.
